The FPS at CXCW 2012

A lot of great stuff has already been given to us at the 2012 CXCW Festival. Members of the Front Porch Society haved the privialge of being a part of CXCW and you can see the perfomances at the links below.

CXCW 2012 Gaslight - Huke Green

CXCW 2012 Love Over Time - Samuel Barker

CXCW 2012 Black Cadillac - Ben Hall

The Front Porchers Take It to the Couch

We here at the Front Porch Society love playing for folks, even if those folks happen to be in our living rooms. Well, some smart folks have put together Couch By Couchwest (visit their website at: http://www.couchbycouchwest.com) to share music with those who can't make it out to SXSW in Austin. The videos start getting posted on March 11th and various acts go up until March 18th!

A few of us tossed out some videos for this. We mostly did new songs to entice some folks over to it. Check out these offerings:

Huke Green came out with a new song, Set Me Free. He also played some classics, so check out his channel to see what he did for CXCW consideration!

Samuel Barker brought up a new song that, at the time of recording, didn't even have a title. Check out this video and also the one of Kansas he did as an encore.

Closing it out, Ben Hall brings you a new tune of his, Black Cadillac. If you look up his profile, you will see plenty of couch sessions from Ben, however, this is the only song he did for CXCW.

Hope you all enjoy it! We have plenty of shows up ahead. Get out there and say hi to us!

Another Year on the Porch!

Alright folks, we just finished up 2011 and had a great year. That is almost completely due to all the great friends we met this year while travelling all over Texas and playing anywhere we could fit all our bodies.

Huke Green and Samuel Barker both released full-length albums, Nathan Taylor finally got a limited edition EP put together and recording commenced on Ben Hall's second full-length. Combine that with nearly 50 shows and we had a great year.

So, what does 2012 have it store? Well, Ben's new album will be released in the very near future, Tommy Worley has a recording on its way and I'm sure other outputs will be released. We're also hammering out the details of a Front Porch Society full-length featuring all of us playing on each other's songs. We're VERY hopeful that it will come together.

This year, we'd also like to come see our friends. Do you have a big back yard? Living room? Barn? Empty lot? Etc? We'd love to come out and play at your house for you and your friends. Make a party of it. We can do it with or without a PA...Just pass a jar around for some donations and the music will come to you! Let us know if you're interested.

That's the update for now. We've got a matinee show at Dunn Bros coming up on the 14th and another great night at Chicago Pizza and Italian Beef on the 28th. Hope to see you fine folks out there!

Benefit Show added this Saturday

A major part of playing music is using your talents to give back to those around you. Come out this Saturday to help us raise some money for a family in need. Kids are welcome, there will be a slide and 2 Moon Walks, Brisket Plates for $10, Whole Briskets for $40...See you there!

From the organizers: We are holding an event for Tony Rimpley. He is an Autistic 16 year old enthusiastic young man with many physical handicaps. Tony was born with many mental and physical handicaps, such as grandmaul seizures, one leg shorter than the other, his left side very week and not ...able to develop with the rest of his body. Tony will never be able to live on his own and on Sunday October 30, 2011 he lost his grandmother that has raised him since birth. Since her passing Tony has been accepted into a loving home with his uncle Mike Rimpley, wife Sharonda and their 3 children. Not that they will ever turn Tony away but they need to expand their home to allow Tony as comfortable of a life as he can have for the years to come. All funds raised at this event will go to the home expansions and handicap facilities needed for his care.
There will be a live auction, a silent auction, bake sale, BBQ sale, small carnival play areas for children to play in. We are working on getting live entertainment for this event so it is still pending.
If there is anything you would like to donate to the auction or money you would like to donate direct please feel free to contact us below. Also, we are looking for people to help finish putting this together and make it one of the best.
Location: Pelican Junction When: Nov. 19th 2011
